EXPANSION
ex·pan·sion (noun) the action of becoming larger or more extensive. The increase of something in size, number, or importance. Show us how your interpretation of expansion ignites your creative energy into new dimensions of existence.
Eligible works included photography, watercolor, oil painting, acrylic painting, pastels, drawing, collage, mixed media, pottery, sculpture, glass, and any other 2D or 3D work representing or reflecting the theme “Expansion.”

Eligibility & Fees
All women artists working in the Greater Houston area, regardless of skill level, are invited to submit 2D or 3D works for consideration in this juried exhibition.
$40 for up to 5 entries; $5 for each additional entry up to 10. Members of WiVLA enjoy a discounted entry fee.
Due to the public exhibition space, the curator of the venue reserves the right to exclude specific pieces if the content is deemed inappropriate (contains nudity, derogatory, or inflammatory subject matter). Direct concerns or questions to visual@wivla.org.
Entering Your Images
You can enter your images online at Smarter Entry.
For best results, make sure your image is 2100 pixels @72 dpi on the longest side. The resulting file size must not exceed 8 MB in size.
Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space.
Name your files: expansion_LastName_1

Juror
Elena Lopez Poirot is an artist and art instructor from Houston, Texas. Elena holds a BFA in Studio Art from the University of Texas at Austin and an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Houston. She is an Instructor at Lee College in Baytown, teaching art since 1996. She has taught at the Glassell Junior School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston since 1991. Elena enjoys working in mixed media and often uses nontraditional materials to create sculptures and installations. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions and has had solo shows/installations at the College of the Mainland Art Gallery, Anya Tish Gallery, Project Row Houses, Lee College Art Gallery, and Tank Space at Spring Street Studios in Houston. Her newest installation, “Threaded,” will be on display at Christensen Gallery in Blanco, Texas, in June 2023.
Exhibition Details
Selected images will be displayed at The POST, located in Downtown Houston.
Selected 2D art must be wired and ready to hang.
Saw tooth hangers are not permitted.
Finished work must be no smaller than 8” x 8” or no larger than 60”(h) x 48”(w) for 2D work, including frame.
3D works cannot exceed 36” wide or deep and can be no taller than 60”. The artists of selected 3D works will provide their own pedestals.
Sales and Copyright
WiVLA encourages sales during the exhibition period. The artist’s contact information will be provided with each selected piece. Artists are responsible for their own sales. Artwork must remain in place for the duration of the exhibition.
Artists whose work is chosen for exhibition inclusion grant WiVLA permission to use images for promoting the exhibition, artist, or WiVLA and its programs, and current and past exhibitions. Images may be placed on social media for promotion and features. Artists grant usage as stated without further compensation.
DELIVERY OF WORK
All work accepted into the show will be delivered on Sunday, August 27, from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
PICK-UP WORK
Work must be picked up November 11 between 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM. Please make arrangements to have your work picked up if you are not able to do so. We do not have a storage facility for unclaimed work.
