2020 Collaboration : Compassion
WiVLA has held a collaboration almost every other year for the past twenty-five years. Members eagerly anticipate the project and enjoy the process. We began the 2020 collaboration by establishing the theme of compassion.
Compassion has been defined as kindness, caring, and a willingness to help others. Emotion researchers say it’s the feeling that arises when confronted with another’s suffering, and you feel motivated to relieve that suffering. It’s a sea captain rescuing drowning migrants in distress. It’s helping an injured bird. It’s self-compassion—not punishing yourself for your mistakes. Compassion is all these things; it couldn’t be more critical in today's world.
We had secured the Houlacast Museum-Houston as our exhibition venue, but because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibition was moved to a virtual production courtesy of the museum. You can view the exhibition on their website using the following link:
