Pearls of Mildred Mills
I joined WIVLA more than 30 years ago when Karleen Koen was president. I was enrolled in a writing workshop at Rice University’s Glascock School of Continuing Education that Karleen taught. I sought a writing or other professional group to enhance my writing skills. She suggested that I consider WIVLA. The women of WIVLA were welcoming, friendly, and always willing to share their knowledge. I have since become a lifetime member, although I was inactive for a few years after leaving Houston and before the virtual craze caused by COVID-19. Still, the new virtual normal, connecting people worldwide, allowed me to reconnect with WIVLA. I was fortunate to win the ECO award this year and cannot wait to use it to promote my memoir and podcast. I am lucky to be a part of this close-knit, talented group of women.
